This is my video analysis of the quiet place
The text was an extract from a quiet place. The filmmaker wanted to show everything the characters do should be done in silence. The second idea is that the filmmaker hints at loud sounds something horrible will happen. The last picture is that the city was abandoned and left stranded.
The main idea is when the characters produce a high volume of sound implies that bad things will happen. The characters were seen using sign language as a way to communicate with each other which shows the audience that talking with audible sounds will cause problems. The store the characters were in was shown with a long shot, to be dark and barely have any lighting. This tells the audience that electricity has been cut off to prevent the production of sounds from electrical items. The filmmaker used a close-up shot of the girl when she was walking around the store showing how she was tip-toeing to get around the store. This is a sign to the audience that the character is trying to produce barely any sound. Another hint shown to us audience is when one of the characters brought a toy specifically a plane that has a chance to emit loud sounds. A pov shot is used to show the facial expression of the man who seems like the father of the family. He is shown to be scared and frightened which shows the experience he had when loud sounds are emitted.
Mini self reflection:
There are a lot of things i need to improve on. Determining the meanings of the scene and analysing the mis-en-scene better
- I think your big idea 1 and 2 are too similar. Combine them
ReplyDelete- I don't think the lack of electricity is because they want to be quiet, I think this is an example of the 'abandoned town' big idea.
- You are not giving enough detail in your examples. Be specific about what the different camera angles/movements show. What is the meaning? How are the audience affected by this?
